A colourful rally was brought out in the Port City arranged by Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Co Ltd in observance of the National Energy Security Day on Thursday morning.

 The rally brought out from MA Aziz stadium premises  which terminated at press club square through parading the city streets carrying festoon and banners.
 Officers and employees of all status  of KGDCL  participated the rally. Managing Director of KGDCL Engr. Khaiz Ahmed Majumder  delivered speech at the end of  rally at Press Club Square as Chief Guest.
 Among others, General Manager (Finance) Hossain Ziaul Hoque  , President of Officers' Welfare Association Engr Anisuddin Ahmed, general secretry Salehuddin Sarwar, President of KGDCL Sramik Karmachari Sangsad (CBA) Farid Ahmed, General Secretary Md. Aslam  and  all  officials irrespective of  status were present in the brief meeting  in front of Press Club
. The chief guest in his brief deliverations said after emergence of Bangladesh, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu  launched  govt ownership  in en ergy sector  on  August 9,  1975  by taking over five gas fields from erstwhile Shell Oil Company .As such, Bangladesh is observing the day in every year on that very date, he added.
 He further said following the alarming increase of gas demand in the country , govt is exploring new gas fields beside  import of LNG from abroad to meet the  demand  .
 The chief guest  congratulated the official and  workers for their relentless  efforts to extend  maximum consumer services in the port city  unterruptedly.
