Ex-female councillor held with Yaba in Bagerhat

UNB, Bagerhat :
Police arrested a former female ward councilor of Morrelganj Municipality along with yaba pills from her house at East Sarail in the municipality on Saturday.
Arrestee Nasima Begum, 45, wife of
Zahangir Alam of the same area was on bail in several drug related cases, said Md Rashedul Alam, officer-in-charge of Morelganj Police Station.
A team of law enforcers conducted a drive at her house in guise of customers and detained her along with the contraband tablets.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, Nasima's husband fled the scene immediately.
The arrestee was produced before a court of Bagerhat Chief Judicial Magistrate in the afternoon, added the OC.
