President and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) Mujahidul Islam Selim and Mohammad Shah Alam respectively in a statement bitterly criticized and condemned the killing of former General Secretary of CPB, Munshiganj District Committee and also poet and publisher Shajahan Bachchu. They demanded exemplary punishment to culprit(s) involved in this heinous killing. The leaders also extended profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.

"The Jamaat-Shibir and the anti-liberation forces in government jobs hatching conspiracies against the government and the liberation war spirit need to be identified," he added. The function was also addressed, among others, by lawmaker Shirin Akter, Justice Shamsuddin Ahmed Manik, Security Analyst Major General (retd) Abdur Rashid, Secretary General of Sector Commanders Forum Harun Habib, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote President Golam Kuddus and former Vice-Chancellor of Jahangir Nagar University Prof Anwar Hossain.
