Pahela Baishakh celebrated

NARAYANGANJ: Award winners of a cultural programme posed for a photo session at Narayangnaj organised by Nirbhik, a social and cultural organisation on the occasion of the Pahela Baishakh on Saturday.

Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bengali New Year-1425, was celebrated in different districts  with a festive mood and enthusiasm  on Saturday. Various colourful programmes were taken to observe the day . Our correspondents and agencies report:
Staff Reporter, Kishoreganj adds: Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangali  New  Year  was celebrated in the district with enthusiasm and traditional gaiety on Saturday.
Kishoreganj District Administration, Police, RAB, Bangladesh Jail, many socio-cultural organisation, educational institutions ruling Awami League, Press Club and NGOs took part in the programmes.
Kishoreganj District Administration arranged a programme marking the Baishakh at Biam Labratroy School maidan.
A discussion meeting held at Biam Labratory School Maidan with Deputy Comissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury in the chair.
It was addressed among other by Police Super Masrukur Rahman Khaled, Zila Parished Chariman Advocate Md. Zillur Rahman, Civil Surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman, ADC (General & D.S) Tarafder Md. Akther Jamil, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Fomar Sanak President Saiful Haque Mollah Dulu and Former Freedom Fighter Commander Md. Asad Ullah.
A Mongal Shovajatra was brought out in the town led by D.C Md. Sarowar Murshed Chowdhury and Police Super Masrukur Rahman Khaled on  Pahela Baishakh.
Cultural groups and different bodies arranged various programmes like musical functions, colourful marches and street side Baishakh fairs in the town.
National Childrens Task Force distribution a Baishakhi cloth among the 100 poor children at Shishu Academy Office premises on Friday noon.
BSS from Rangpur says:  The 'Pahela Baishakh' was celebrated on Saturday with huge enthusiasm and traditional festivities amid tight security measures everywhere in Rangpur division.
The district and upazila towns wore cheerful looks as the common people irrespective of caste, creed and religion welcomed 'Pahela Boishakh' with a vow to nurture rich Bangalee culture and heritage.
The district administrations, different government, non-government, socio- cultural and business organisations, educational institutions, chalked out colourful programmes.
Tens of thousands of adolescents, youths, students, children, men, women and activists of different organisations, wearing traditional dresses, brought out 'Boishakhi' processions and 'Mangal Shobhayatra' to welcome the Bengali New Year.
'Pantha Bhat' festival, kite flying, Ha-Du-Du, Kabadi and local sports competitions for women, 'Baishakhi Melas', cultural functions, doll- dances, 'Nagor Dola', traditional 'Lathi Khela' and discussions were arranged at different places in the division.
In Rangpur city, the district administration, Rangpur City Corporation, Sommilito Sangskritik Jote, socio-cultural, business and other organisations and educational institutions welcomed 'Pahela Boishakh' through colourful programmes.
The celebrations simultaneously began with traditional 'Boishakhi' programmes of Shishu Academy and Shilpokola Academy at Banyan Tree premises in Zila School and 'Sommilito Sangskriti Jote' on Central Shaheed Minar premises in the morning.
Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa and Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hassan Ahmed simultaneously inaugurated the celebrations at Central Shaheed Minar and Banyan Tree premises in the city.
The district administration in association with dozens of the other organisations brought out the main 'Boishakhi' procession from Zila School ground and returned there again after parading the city streets to welcome the Bengali New Year-1425.'
BSS  from Gaibandha  reports :  Pahela Baishakh  was celebrated in the district on Saturday with much enthusiasm and traditional festivities with a vow to build a non-communal, happy and prosperous Bangladesh.
Marking the day, district administration, Sadar upazila administration, Gaibandha Govt. College, Sadar Upazila Model School and College, Udichi Shilpi Gosti, Dariapur Sangskritik Jote, and other socio-cultural organizations including some NGOs chalked out elaborate programmes.
The programmes include bringing out mongal shobhajatra, eating of pantha vaat, discussion meeting, staging drama, arrangement of Baishakhi mela, kite flying and cultural function.
The programmes also include nagor dola, pala gaan, jari gaan, shari gaan and folk song, reciting poems, holding halkhata in business establishments and distribution of sweets.
In the morning, a big colorful rally led by whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini was brought out from Independence Square and ended at the same venue after parading the main roads of the town to welcome the Bangla New Year.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gautam Chandra Pal, Police Super Abdul Mannan Miah district and upazila level officials, cultural personalities, social workers, businessmen attrended the rally. They were carrying banners, festoons, traditional handicrafts, household utensils, fishing instruments, beating drums and playing musical instruments while singing 'Esho Hey Baishakh Esho Esho'.
BSS from Faridpur adds:  Pahela Boishakh was celebrated here with much enthusiasm and traditional festivities as elsewhere of the country on Saturday .
People from all walks of life wearing traditional and colorful dresses poured into a grand rally organised by Faridpur district administration and paraded the main street "Mujib Sarak" of the town on the occasion.
Different socio-cultural organizations and educational institutions, associations of professionals have joined the rally in jovial atmosphere.
Faridpur district administration, Police administration, Faridpur Pourashava, Faridpur Ladies Club, Officers Club, Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, Muktijoddha Sangsad, Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Gosthi,Khelaghor, Rabindra Sangeet Sammilon Parishad, Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Govt. Girls School, Faridpur Zila School, Saroda Sundori Girls' High School joined the rally, among others.
