Eviction drive from hill pocket resisted

The eviction drive of the Chattogram district administration  from the risky hill-pockets of Chittogram was resisted by the local pockets and the slum dwellers beside the risky hills at Motijorna in the city yesterday .
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram  Delwar Hossain led the eviction drive from yesterday morning.
From very beginning of the drive, a number of risky shanties beside the motijorna hills was demolished and power connections snapped instantly. Immediate after the demolistion of dwelling houses, the locals including the slum dwellers assembled on the spot and began demonstration against the eviction. Following the altercation with the law enforcers, the situation became tense immediately in the area.
Asstt. Commissioner of Land, Chandgaon Circle and Executive Magistrate Md. Sabbir Rahman told that the district authority announced through making to leave the risky houses  to the safer places as the raining reasons at the door steps but the hill pocket dwellers did not comply the govt order .
 Sources said the eviction drive will continue despite the resistance by the locals and slum dwellers. Mentionable that in rainy season every year, a number of  hillside dwellers died of hlllslide , sources said.
