Inter-University Football, Basketball tournaments begin at IU

Inter-University Football and Basketball tournaments-2018 began at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Saturday amid festivity.
The authority of Islamic University (IU) organised the tournaments at the football field and Gymnasium ground of the university, where 17 public universities of the country including Dhaka University (DU), Rajshahi University (RU), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Chittagong University (CU) and Islamic University (IU) are taking part.
IU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari inaugurated the Football and Basketball tournaments as chief guest by releasing balloons.
With Treasurer Professor Dr M Selim Toha in the chair, acting Registrar of the university SM Abdul Latif, Proctor Professor Dr M Mahbubar Rahman, Students Advisor Professor Dr M Rezwanul Islam were present, among others, at the function.
Director of IU's Physical Education department Mohammad Sohel delivered the welcome speech.
The first match of the Football tournament was held between Islamic University (IU) and Pabna Science and Technology University (PSTU), where IU won the match defeating PSTU by 4-0 goals.
