SCBA election begins today

The two-day annual election to the 14-member executive committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) will begin from today (Wednesday).
The polling will continue from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm with one-hour launch and prayer break at the SCBA building, while the result is likely to be announced on Thursday night, SCBA Superintendent Nimesh Chandra Das said.
He said 6,152 lawyers will exercise their voting rights.
Awami League leader and former SCBA President Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun, BNP leader and incumbent SCBA President Advocate Zainul Abedin, Advocate Shah Md Khasruzzaman and Advocate Eunus Ali Akond are contesting for the post of the President of the bar.
Advocate Sheikh Md Morshed, incumbent SCBA Secretary and former BNP lawmaker Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Advocate Alhaj Abul Bashar are contesting for the post of Secretary, Nimesh Chandra added.
