Talk on 'Liberal Arts Education' at ULAB

Rajib N Sanyal, PhD, Dean of Robert B Willumstad School of Business, Adelphi University, New York, USA speaks at a talk on 'Liberal Arts Education: Challenges and Relevance' at ULAB Dhanmondi Campus on Thursday.
University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a talk on "Liberal Arts Education: Challenges and Relevance" by Rajib N Sanyal, PhD, Dean of Robert B Willumstad School of Business, Adelphi University, New York, USA on Thursday at its Dhanmondi Campus.
Prof Imran Rahman, Special Advisor to the ULAB Board of Trustees welcomed everyone and Introduced Prof Rajib N Sanyal.
Dr Sanyal spoke about the goals and benefits of a liberal arts education.
He described how the liberal arts system enables the development of the very skills that employers look for in university graduates such as the ability think clearly about complex problems and solve them creatively and innovatively and work well in diverse teams.
He also talked about how in his own teaching career, he often brought in examples from English Literature and movies which students would watch and discuss to understand the concepts of leadership, conflict resolution, etc.
This active, immersive approach in teaching is one which students can relate well to. He ended the session with a lively question and answer session.
The event was attended by Heads of Departments, faculty members, administrative members and students.
Among others, Prof Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, Treasurer of ULAB; Prof SM Mahbubur Rahman, Head of EEE; Prof Shamsad Mortuza, Head of DEH, ULAB; Prof Kaiser Hamidul Haq of DEH, ULAB; Prof Din Mohammad Sumon Rahman, MSJ, ULAB; Wazir AF Ahmad, Assistant Professor and Director, BBA Program; Asif Uddin Ahmed, Assistant Professor and Deputy Director of Academic Affairs, ULAB were present.
