EU Math Olympiad held

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Eastern University (EU) arranged the "5th Eastern University Mathematics Olympiad 2018" and "Bangladesh Olympiad in Informatics 2018" for higher secondary level students on Friday at EU premises.  Students from various colleges of the country participated in this national level Olympiad. The participants had two hours to solve 20 challenging mathematical problems.
Prof Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, Head of the Department, EEE, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology was the chief guest at the prize giving ceremony and distributed the prizes;  Engineer Kh Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees, EU was the  Guest of Honor. Prof Dr M Kaykobad, Professor, Department of CSE, BUET and Prof Dr Shaikh Suhrabuddin, Founder Secretary (1972), Bangladesh Mathematical Society were the special guests of the program. The program was chaired by Prof Dr Md. Nurul Islam, Vice Chancellor, EU.
Over video conference, Dr. Zafar Iqbal regretted for not being able to attend the program and said, "That a crowed of students with their guardians awaiting for long - not for having food or a enjoying concert but to participate in the Math Olympiad is the most exquisite sight of the world to me".
Tasmeem Reza, student of SOS Herman Gmeiner College became the champion; first and second runners-up were Ruhan Habib, student of Pivot Point, and Syed Rubab Redwan, student of Rajshahi University School and College respectively.
RSRM was the Title sponsor; Toma Taxi and Royal Buffet were the co-sponsor; Coordinated by EU Computing Club.
