World Radio Day observed
Academicians laud 'betar' for disseminating information quickly
Academicians at a post-rally seminar here on Tuesday lauded the role of 'Betar' in quickly disseminating information and knowledge to common people at this age of digital information and communication technology.
The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) organised the seminar on 'Radio in Sports' at Heyat Maud Bhaban in the campus in observance of the World Radio Day-2018.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of BRUR Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah led a colourful rally, participated by teachers and students of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, on the campus.
Presided over by Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism Dr Nazrul Islam in the chair, the VC attended the event as the chief guest. Member of Bangladesh Community Radio Association (BCRA) and Chief Editor of Radio Chilmari Sabrina Sharmin took part as the main discussant.
Administrator of the Public Relations, Information and Publication Division of the university Professor Dr Sarifa Salowa Dina attended the event as special guest.
BSS from Rajshahi reports: The World Radio Day-2018 was celebrated here on Tuesday h enthusiasm and in a befitting manner. Marking the day, officials and artists of Rajshahi Betar brought out a rally. Representatives and staffs of Community Radio Padma and Mohananda also joined the rally.
After parading different streets, the rally ended at Betar Bhaban where a discussion and a cultural function were held.
Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, and Regional Director of Bangladesh Betar Towhida Chowdhury addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively with Hassan Akhter, Deputy Director of Betar, in the chair.
