21st founding anniversary of CUJA observed

Media Adviser to the Prime Minister Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury on Monday urged journalists to depict the real picture of the society without any fear or favour.
He was addressing the 21st founding anniversary of the Chittagong University Journalists' Association (CUJA) as chief guest, held on Monday afternoon on CU campus.
Iqbal Sobhan, also the Daily Observer Editor, advised the journalists to keep a clear concept of the nation, politics and the society as they can teach the readers about the situation of the country.
He also advised them to follow the ethics and morality of the profession.
Prof Iftekharuddin Chowdhury, CU VC, inaugurated the function while, Pro VC Dr Shirin Akter, MA Malek, Editor of The Daily Azadi, were present as special guests.
Presided over by Ashhabur Rahman Shoyeb, President of CUJA, the function was addressed by Prof Dr Farid Uddin Ahmed, Dean of Social Science, and Ali Asgar Chowdhury, Proctor of CU, Hamidullah, Ehsan Jewel, Uttam sengupta and Ibrahim Kutubi.
Later, Iqbal Sobhan also exchanged views with the members of the journalist community of the Port City at the Chittagong Press Club (CPC).
In his speech, Iqbal Sobhan stressed on the need for unity among the journalist community to uphold the professional dignity and prestige.
He also informed the journalist that the anomalies in the 8th Wage Board award would be amended in the newly constituted 9th Wage Board.
He also said wage structures for the journalist of electronic media would also be included in the 9th Wage Board Award.
Iqbal Sobhan also expressed his determination that the trial of Sagar-Runi murder would be completed very soon.
Nazimuddin Shyamol, President of Chittagong Union of Journalist (CUJ) Suklal Das, General Secretary of CPC, Mustak Ahmed, M Shamsul Islam, and Debdulal Bhowmik, among others, were present.
