10 cattle traders fine in Kurigram

UNB, Kurigram :
A mobile court fined Tk 27 lakh to ten cattle traders in an allegation of slaughtering lank and ill cows and selling the beefs at Kathalbari market in Sadar upazila on Monday morning.
The court headed by UNO of the upazila Amin Al Parvej conducted a drive in the market and passed the order.
Among the accused, Babu and Majno Miah were fined Tk 20 lakh each, Sayedul and Usman were fined Tk 10 lakh each and others were fined in different ranges.
The court also seized one and half mound of cow's meat and ordered to put the sub-standard beef under the ground.
The stricter measures would be taken if the accused run such illegal businesses again, said the UNO.
