Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Saturday said the government is working to ensure quality education for achieving the targets of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
"The main challenge of the education sector is to ensure standard of education. We should work together to overcome the challenge," he told a function at the regional scout training center in Sylhet.
Nahid said despite a number of challenges, Bangladesh has some remarkable and praiseworthy achievements in the education sector.
Distribution of free textbooks among the students of primary and secondary levels, increased enrolment rate and eradicating gender inequality in primary and secondary education have already been acknowledged in different international forums, he added.
The minister said "Formulation of the national education policy-2010 in order to build skilled and competent human resources through creating opportunities of enrolment in all levels of education is significant and positive pre-exist condition for Bangladesh when we are working of SDG-4 target."
