Bangladesh Vivekananda Shiksha O Sangskriti Parishad
A discussion on 'Harmony and Peace' marking the 155th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was held at Jagannath Hall of Dhaka University. Bangladesh Vivekananda Shiksha O Sangskriti Parishad organized the discussion on Friday. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was present at the programme as the chief guest. While speaking Quader urged all to be united to maintain peace and harmony among the people irrespective of caste, creed and colour. Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Dhaka Principal Dhrubeshananda Maharaj attended the function as the guest of honour.Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (academic) Professor Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Distinguished Fellow of Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, Dhaka University Teachers' Association President Professor ASM Maksud Kamal and DU Jagannath Hall Provost Professor Asim Sarker, among others, were present on the occasion. President of the parishad Chandranath Poddar presided over the event.
Nirapad Sarak Chai
A programme organised by Nirapad Sarak Chai was held in the city to give artificial legs to people who lost their legs in road accidents. Finance Minister AMA Muhith was present as the chief guest in the function held recently. Stressing the need for increasing awareness about road accidents, Muhith said creating awareness about road safety can help reduce road accidents in the country. "Awareness about road safety can help reduce road accidents. We need to create awareness among people about it," the minister added.
The minister highly appreciated Nirapad Sarak Chai activists for their campaign against road accidents and said this organization has been carrying out campaign for 24 years to create mass awareness to prevent road accidents in the country. The function was also addressed, among others, by, founder of the organisation film actor Ilias Kanchan and Valerie Ann Taylor of CRP. Vice-Chairman of the organisation Syed Ehsan Ul Kamal presided over the event.
