Ctg Abahani face Saif SC in opener on Tuesday

Chtittagong Abahani Limited will face Saif Sporting Club Limited in the opening match of the Group-D of the Walton Independence Cup Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday (January 16) at 3.30 pm. In the day's other match, Brothers Union Limited will meet Farashganj Sporting Club in the their Group-B match at 5.45 pm at the same venue.
Bangladesh Football Federation will arrange the football tournament, while Walton Group is the title sponsor of the meet.
The budget of the tournament has been estimated at Taka sixty lakh.
A total of 12 teams splitting into four groups are taking part in the gala football tournament. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited, Rahmatganj MFS, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited are in Group-A, Brothers Union Limited, Bangladesh Muktijiddha Sangsad Krira Chakra, Farashganj Sporting Club are in Group-B, Dhaka Abahani Limited, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited, Team BJMC are in Group-C, Chittagang Abahani Limited, Arambagh Krira Sangha, Saif Sporting Club Limited are in Group-D.
Top two teams from each group will get tickets of the quarter-finals. The winners of the quarter-finals will play in the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals will face each other in the final. The winning team of the final will be the champions of the meet.
The champions will get Taka five lakh, while the runners-up will be awarded Taka three lakh. Each participating teams will be given Taka two lakh as participation money.
