Mortuza emerges champion in Divisional Chess

Mortuza Mahathir Islam of Narayanganj became champion and Md Raihan Hossain finished runner-up in boys' Under-17 group Dhaka Divisional Chess tournament of Youth Games-2018 held on Wednesday at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room.
In the girls' section, Kazi Zarin Tasnim of Mankganj emerged champion while Marziya Chowdhury finished runner-up in girls' Under-17 group event also held at the same venue, said a press release.
Besides, Zihad Hossain of Madaripur finished runner-up in boys' Under-13 group while Noshin Anjum of Narsingdi emerged champion in girls' under-13 group.
A total of 11 players from Narayanganj, Narsingdi, Manikganj and Madaripur districts took part in the meet.
Earlier, KM Shahidullah, executive member of Bangladesh Olympic Association and vice president of Bangladesh Chess Federation, formally inaugurated the event as the chief guest.
