Dr Mahfuzul joins CUB as VC

Prof Dr Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam joined as the Vice Chancellor of Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) on 1st January, 2018. Anjuman Ara Shahid, Vice Chairman, BoT, Canadian University of Bangladesh received the new VC in a 'Welcome Ceremony' at the Auditorium of the University. Earlier on 10 December, 2017, President Abdul Hamid appointed Prof Islam as the VC of CUB for four years from the date of joining. The appointment was made as per Section 31 (1) of Private University Act, 2010. Prior to joining as the VC, Dr Islam has served various national and international organizations as a prominent educationist, administrative leader and researcher. He was a Professor and the Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) of BUET.
The new and first Govt appointed Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam thanked the government as well as the Board of Trustees for appointing him as the Vice Chancellor for next four years.  Dr Islam sought cooperation from both faculties and staffs while he also assured to render his best to make Canadian University of Bangladesh as one of the best universities in the country.
Dr Atiur Rahman, Professor Emeritus and Virtual Dean, School of Business, CUB and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank welcomed and thanked Dr Islam on his joining as new VC and hoped that Dr Islam as a leader will take CUB into a new revolutionary phase.
Prof William H Derrenger delivered welcome speech and thanked every faculty and officers for their wonderful support during his tenure as the Acting Vice Chancellor while Brig Gen Md. Asaduzzaman Subhani (Retd),  Registrar, gave vote of thanks to the all presents in the ceremony. SM Arifuzzaman, Associate Professor and Head, School of Business conducted the program.
Among others, Chowdhury Raheeb Safwan Sarafat, Member, BoT, CUB, Hanif Mahtab, Associate Professor of Business School and Proctor In-charge and Head of Career Service Wing, Md. Latiful Khabir, Associate Professor of Business School and Head of Student Service Wing and Students' Directorate, Dr Abdullah- Al- Monzur Hussain, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Law, Dr Akim M Rahman, Asssitant Professor, School of Business and other faculties and officers of Canadian University of Bangladesh were also present in the program.
