NESCO, responsible for electricity distribution in Rajshahi and Rangpur reasons, placed the electricity tariff hike as per Bangladesh Power Development Board's (BPDB) power tariff hike proposal for bulk level.
BERC chairman Monowar Islam, BERC's Members Mizanur Rahman, Rahman Murshed, Abdul Aziz Khan and Mahmudul Hoque Bhuiyan conducted the hearing.
Representatives from Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB), different left wing political parties and trade bodies were also present there.
NESCO Managing Director said most of the municipalities and local government wings were not paying electricity bills regularly.
