Books on boats launched

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor on Sunday said the government is going to set up a â€˜Boat Museumâ€™ as the countryâ€™s many traditional boats are disappearing with the introduction of mechanised ones.
The Minister came up with the remarks while speaking at a launching ceremony of two books -- â€˜BOATS - A Treasure of Bangladeshâ€™ authored by Enayetullah Khan and Yves Marre, and â€˜Barge for Bangladeshâ€™ by Yves Marre-- at the Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum. Cosmos Books published the two books. The Minister also thanked Yves Marre for writing 'the book on â€˜Barge for Bangladeshâ€™ on his interesting adventure.
French Ambassador in Bangladesh Sophie Aubert, Director General of the National Museum Faizul Latif Choudhury, Prof Emeritus Anisuzzaman, OP Sharma, COO of SAW Pipes Division of Jindal Saw Ltd, posco DAEWOO country manager Jong Bum Lee and UNB Chairman Amanullah Khan were, among others, present.
In the book of â€˜Boats: A Treasure of Bangladesh,â€™ Khan and Marre have collaborated to present a wealth of information from exposing the history behind an entire repository of this regionâ€™s culture to featuring outstanding photographs arid glorious scenes that were once ubiquitous but undeniably fading with passing time.
