Int'l workshop on 'Transport and mobility: Meeting the needs of working women' at UAP

Prof Dr Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice Chancellor of University of Asia Pacific makes a presentation at a two-day long international workshop on "Transport and Mobility: Meeting the Needs of Working Women" held at the University recently.

A two-day long international workshop on "Transport and Mobility: Meeting the Needs of Working Women" was held at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) from August 19-20, 2017. The University of Leeds and UAP jointly organised the workshop to find out the reasons why women feel uncomfortable and unsafe while travelling on public transport in Dhaka, especially buses. The workshop also pointed out that women even have to struggle accessing the available transportation.
The first day of workshop began with a presentation on "Transformation of Transport Landscape in Dhaka" by Prof Dr Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice Chancellor, UAP.
Faculties of different local and international universities took part in the workshop.
Dr James Evans, Professor of the University of Manchester, Karen Lucas, Professor of the University of Leeds, Farzana Rahman, Professor of UAP; Debra Efroymson, international adviser to the Institute of Wellbeing in Bangladesh also spoke among others. Besides, Qayum Reza Chowdhury, Chairman, BOT, Prof Dr MR Kabir, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Mizanur Rahaman, Head, CE and other faculties of the department were present during the session.
