DIU hosts study on ICT job market in Bangladesh

To explore the opportunities for future IT leaders as well as jobseekers in ICT industry of Bangladesh and empower them with required IT skills, Daffodil International University (DIU) in association with Jobsbd.com is going to conduct a study on 'ICT Job Market in Bangladesh'. The launching program of the said study was held on Sunday at the Auditorium of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), Karwanbagar in the city.
Shayam Sunder Sikder, Secretary, Post and Telecommunication Division, Ministry of Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology, launched the program as chief guest while Mostafa Jabbar, President, BASIS and Ali Ashfak, President, Central Executive Committee, Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS) were present as special guests.
Md. Sabur khan, Chairman, Boar of Trustee (BoT), DIU presided over the function also addressed, among others, by Prof Dr Syed Akter Hossain, Head, Department of CSE, Dr Touhid Bhuyan, Head, Department of Software Engineering and Abu Taher Khan, Director, Career Development Center of DIU.
The chief guest Shayam Sundor Shikder said, this ICT job market survey is time befitting for us through which we would be able to know the demand and variety of skilled people needed in ICT job market. This survey should cover in global perspective also as we live in a global village and global job market is open for all.
Shaym Sundar Shikder expressed his hope that through this survey we will be able to know the reason behind this situation. He thanked DIU and Jobsbd.com for coming forward with such kind of survey about ICT job market. He said, there are many methods of survey. If purposive sampling method is used in this survey, the survey result will be rational and acceptable to all people.
In the presidential address Md. Sabur Khan said, nowadays some people opine that universities course curriculum should be changed but they didn't find out the way or clarify about what type of change is specifically we need to do. So that many universities want to change but finally they can't. To fulfill this need Daffodil International University has taken this initiative of conducting this survey. Md. Sabur Khan ensured that if success comes out from this survey then they would make survey on other topics.
DIU will lead to compile the Study on "ICT Job Market in Bangladesh" in collaboration with Jobsbd.com. Besides coordinating the Publication process, DIU will do data collation and analysis of ICT industry-specific information and outlook as well as Bangladesh's economic outlook.
