Khagrachhari Correspondent :
Khagrachhari Hill District Council (KHDC)) distributed 80 thousand fruit saplings among 2,000 farmers at Tribal Cultural Institute in the town on Saturday.
Convener and Member of KHDC Advocate Ashutosh Chakma presided over the distribution function while local lawmaker Kujendra Lal Tripura attended the programme as chief guest.
Kujendra Lal Tripura, MP, said, "The local climate has already changed due to vanishing of forests in three hill districts- Khagrachhari, Rangamati and Bandarban. Now it is high time to plant saplings aiming to face natural disasters, stop climate changes and ensure a happy and prosperous future for next generation."
Advocate Ashutosh Chakma said, "As a convener of District Agriculture Extension (DAE) office, I will try to turn the entire Khagrachhari district green through planting more saplings."
