Women farmers urged for turkey birds farming

RAJSHAHI: Poultry scientists and experts urged the women farmers to nurture turkey birds for improving their living and livelihood condition. Terming the turkey birds (guineafowels) farming more profitable and cost- effective, they suggested the farmers to use modern technologies during farming of those commercially. Substantial and sustainable farming of the birds can be the vital means of poverty reduction with ensuring the supply of safe and quality poultry meat and eggs, they said. They were addressing a farmers' orientation training in Meherchandi area under Motiher Police station in the city yesterday. More than 45 women farmers joined the meeting. Bangladesh Livestock Society (BLS) organized the training in association with a project titled 'Small scale farming of guineafowels and turkey in Bangladesh- a tool for Poverty reduction'.  Professor Dr. Shubash Chandra Das of Department of Poultry Science under Faculty of Animal Husbandry at Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensing addressed the orientation as focal person with BLS president Professor Dr. Md. Jalal Uddin Sarder in the chair.Dr. Riazul Islam, Lecturer of Ganoshasto University and BLS General Secretary Dr Hemayetul Islam also spoke. Referring to various research findings, Prof Shubash Das said the meat of turkey birds contain very low-fat, so it is good for health, reports BSS.

Sexagenarian crushed under train

FARIDPUR: A sexagenarian man was crushed under the wheels of a speedy train at Shovarampur village under Sadar upazila of the district on Wednesday  morning.  The deceased was identified as Munnu Khan, 75, Son of Momin Khan of Bangalkanda village under Nagarkanda upazila of the district. Sub-Inspector (SI) Mirajur Rahman of Kotwali police station confirmed the accident and death, reports BSS.

Amir Hussain  Member-1 and 8 advisory committee has been formed unanimously.  The other members of this committee are Md.Nurul Islam Shikhder ,Head master of Gafargaon govt.Islamia High school,  distinguished industrialist  Golam Mohi Uddin Manik,  Niamul Kabir Sojol, Staff Reporter of Kaler Kontho,  Singer Mukhlesur Rahman Manik, Sangbadik Shahin Akonda, and Nazrul Islam.  Later, Md .Abdul Hamid Bachhu distinguished businessman , social worker, Presdident of Gafargaon 85; Social organization has been selected president, and Lecturer Golam Mahmud Faroki general secretary  respectively.
