The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Northern University Bangladesh, in collaboration with the World Bank and the University Grants Commission, has recently arranged a workshop on "Designing Course Profile and Assessment Criteria and Orientation of New Faculty Members".
Prof Dr AYM Abdullah, the Chairman of Northern University Bangladesh Trust, was present as the chief guest at the occasion. Quality assurance expert and Director of the IQAC of NUB, Prof Dr M Shamsul Haque coordinated the session.
The Vice-Chancellor (acting) of NUB Prof Dr Anwarul Karim, Treasurer Md. Anwar Hussain and Registrar Md. Rashidul Islam, were present as special guests at the occasion.
Faculty members of Northern University participated in the training session moderated by Md. Lutfor Rahman, Additional Director, IQAC, NUB.
The chief guest referred to the faculty members as "teacherpreneurs" and urged them to embrace career-long learning and to focus on scholastic pursuit of knowledge. He stressed on the importance of conducting high-quality research, learning the latest statistical tools and gaining expertise in software for achieving professional excellence. Moreover, he added, as theoretical learning can fulfil only 30-40 percent of the knowledge students require, university education should be closely interlinked with the industry and the market.
