IM Minhaz Uddin becomes unbeaten champion in SGS Open FIDE Rating Chess

IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin of Bangladesh Navy became unbeaten champion in the SGS Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament held on Monday at the Hall Room of Bangladesh Chess Federation.
This competition was sponsored by the Saif Global Sports (SGS) and organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation.
IM Minhaz earned 8 points to clinch the title. Three players earned 7.5 points each. In tie-breaking system M Sharif Hossain of Bangladesh Navy became runner-up, FM Rezaul Haque became 3rd and CM Chanchal Kumer Ghosh became 4th.
Three players earned 7 points each.  In tie-breaking system IM Abu Sufuan Shakil became 5th, S. M. Sharon became 6th and Uten became 7th.
Nine players earned 6.5 points and received 8th to 16th positions, They are: CM Mahtabuddin Ahmed, CM Sohel Chowdhury, FM Sk. Nasir Ahmed, Md. Siddiqur Rahman, Shafiq Ahmed, Nayem Haque, Md. Sagar, Subrato Biswas, & Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan. FM Mohammad Javed became 17th and P. J. Bakul Barua became 18th with 6 points each.
WIM Shamima Akter Liza became best woman, rating and unrated categories prizes received Avik Sarker, M Sohel Howlader, Javed Al Azad and Chaklader Rahamatur Rab Hasmi. Best Uner-12 Boys Mahin Ahmed Shuvo, Best Under-16 Boys Amit Bikram Roy, Best Under-16 Girls Noshin Anjum and Best Under-12 Girls Jannatul Fredous.
The 9th or last round games were held on Sunday. In last round IM Minhaz drew with Sharif, CM Chanchal beat CM Sohel, FM Reza beat FM Javed, IM Shakil beat WIM Liza and Uten beat Mohammed Enayet Hossain.  The Prize-Distribution Ceremony was held after end of the games. K M Shahidullah Chairman Tournament Committee and Vice President of Bangladesh Chess Federation and Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim General Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation distributed prizes among the winners.
Moniruzzaman Palash Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation, Ahmed Sayed Al-Fatah General Manager of Saif Global Sports and Chief Arbiter Md. Haroon ur Rashid spoke on the occasion.
National Instructor Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly Managing Director of Elegant International Chess Academy was present in the ceremony.
Total one lac fifty thousand taka cash prize money was given to winners. The event was held in 9 round Swiss-League system and total 159 players participated in it.
