5 held with snake venom worth Tk 45 crore

Five people were arrested with 12 pounds of snake venom worth Tk 45 crore from city's Kuril bus stand area on Monday night.

Members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police have detained five people from different areas of capital with 12 pounds of snake venom worth about Tk 45 core, police said.
They are: Abu Hanif, Afsar Ali, Nazrul Islam, Moktar Hossain and Roice Uddin, police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Detective Branch (North) Sheikh Nazmul Alam said: "We detained them in a drive conducted Monday night. The estimated price of the venom is Tk 45 crore."
The persons detained over involvement in illegal venom trade, the DB official said.     They were being interrogated in this connection, he said.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection, he added.
